Need Help
I know nothing about guns or selling a gun. I was given a gun several years ago that I now know is a 1941 Luger handgun. My wife and I just had our second baby and she has not been allowed to work for six weeks...so I am trying to sell the gun quickly to make money to buy Christmas presents for our families. I have done a little research online...just enough to find my identical gun on websites going for anywhere from $1000 to $4700 (with a holster which I do not have).
I found this forum through some further searching...so I thought this would be a good place to turn for help. I need to know how to sell it...hopefully within a few weeks...and get as much value out of it that it has to offer. If someone on here wanted to sell it for me, I would even be glad to possibly work out some sort of arangement. I am in Louisville Ky...please feel free to answer on this thread or if there is some sort of Private Message on this forum feel free to PM me (I litereally just found this thread and joined a minute ago, but if it functions like other forums I assume there is a messaging option). Thanks to all for your input and help with my desparate situation. |

It would be helpful if you post as many photos as you can. Include any markings, dates, proofs, etc.

You need to post a lot of close up photos of all sides of the pistol, as well as the top. Otherwise, noone knows what you're talking about. Then, I'm sure you will get a lot of help. Neil

If you cannot read the pictures well...on the barrel it says 1941. On the top at the back it says Mauser. And a few places it has the number 82. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks so much for any help!! |

This is a Banner Police pistol. What is the full serial number as it appears under the barrel and below that, the frame? Also include the letter suffix to the serial number, if any.
Better photos are essential for valuing the gun, along with an idea if all internals match as well. Where are you located? Perhaps a forum member can inspect the pistol personally and give you advise as to a sales value Last edited by alanint; 12-01-2009 at 02:48 PM. |

Yes, a Mauser Banner Police. These are very collectable. Look on the right side of the receiver for an eagle and a letter, C, or L usually. Serial no. run 5629x- 995x, 31y-734y. 1344y-2310y,some variations. estimated 5915 made.
Read us the serial no. and suffix letter as it appears on the front of the frame under the barrel. And anything on the base of the magazine FN Last edited by FNorm; 12-01-2009 at 02:19 PM. Reason: add |

Keep in mind that I am getting this information from my wife over the phone haha...I will look it over when I get home tonight to see if I see anything else or find out if she is wrong about anything.
She found the picture of the eagle, but said there is no letter next to it. The serial number was 882y. On the bottom of the magazine she said there was a 1 then a space and an 82 then another space and a letter y. |

Kevin:
Pictures are too dark to evaluate blueing condition. If you are in no hurry, there is a National Gun Day Show at the fairgrounds, 12, 13 Dec., lotsa Lugers. Bring it to the show and you will receive top dollar. Regards Ken D |

Ken - I may just do that. But I would want to make sure that they do give me a fair price. Do you think it would be possible for us to meet up before I take it there? I live in JTown and work a lot...but I can find some time to meet. What part of Louisville do you live in?
Thanks!! |

There is an L after the eagle.
Does anyone have a rough range...a low/high or poor/excelent range...of what this gun should be worth since I am going to attempt to sell it? |
