E Co, 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division...

- Belgian Fourragere

- Cited in the Order of the day of the Belgian Army for action at the MEUSE RIVER

- Cited in the Order of the day of the Belgian Army for action in the ARDENNES

He survived being torpedoed on the USS Thomas Stone, walked and fought from

Algeria-French Morocco

Tunisia

Sicily

Normandy

Northern France

Ardennes-Alsace

Rhineland

Central Europe and almost all the way to Berlin before he was taken out of action by an 8mm Mauser round through the leg.

We owe them all a debt we can never repay...

Hey!!

I wore that patch for a little while, or else some friends did! (I wore so many, sometimes for a couple of months.... ole age gettin to me).

I would be proud of your Dad too! They went through a heck of a lot more than I could even have imagined...

There are so many Vets passing away...

This past Sunday I went to the funeral of my uncle, Harold A. Courtney, who was a sergeant with the 1269th Engineer Combat Batallion assigned to the 101st in the Berchtesgaden area toward the end of the war. If you remember the enterviews with the veterans in the last episode of Band of Brothers, one mentions the Goring treasure cave. My uncle was instrumental in opening the cave. He made it through three years of the war in Europe only to lose his life to a freak accident in his own backyard.

WOW, right on buddy! My dear old dad passed when he was 75, he was just two weeks shy of his 20th birthday when he landed on Omaha beach! Incredible what these guys went through, I am throughly impressed by your Dad's service as outline! Thor
