Unit marking help.
Can anyone ID this grip marking on my pistol? I posted over at gunboards a few months back with no luck. I picked it up cheap this spring from a guy at work. Total mixmaster. Lower assy and toggle assy match (00). Upper is a BYF 42 and the side plate and take down are totally mismatched. Barrel is trash. This is my only Luger I own and its just a plinker. Yes, I know it is ugly, but it functions perfect. Going for a new barrel at the end of the month and maybe a refinish someday. Thank you for any help.

I thought Ron Smith's ID as Schutzen Bataillon Fernsprech was fairly convincing http://luger.gunboards.com/showthrea...t=15067&page=2. Clearly the frame is much older than the upper.

'Schützen Battlion' is a "best guess". If it's incomplete or not to regulation, it's nearly impossible to determine for sure. The F I am certain about.
