Default Do Matching Mags.....

Hi All, I am doing some research for a friend and hope to have some pics in the near future to post. He picked up a 1914, dated 1916 DWM luger from an older gentleman that was brought back from the war with all matching numbers

First question I have for now is, it has 2 magazines and and they both match the gun is the value of the gun really doubled because of the magazines? The Blue book states add 100% for 2 matching mags. In the real world is that really true?

Thanks
David

It is probably pretty darn close to accurate. However those mags. should be looked at very carefully for inconsistancies.
Let's see a boatload of pictures.

The problem is, of course, that it is quite cheap and easy to fake a couple of matching mags and instantly double the price of a pistol.

A matter of supply and demand that has gone horribly wrong.

The evidence that they can be and are faked is all around us. Super accurate fakes are quite a bit more difficult thanks to the internet and sites like this.

Thanks for the info, I doubt the mags have been faked, the guy that sold it, is in his 80's and he was the one that brought it back from the war.

I just can't believe that they add that much value to the firearm

I Should be seeing him this weekend and will do my best to get good pictures of it so I can post them.

When I do get the pictures, would all you guys prefer a web page with un-resized but cropped pictures to look at linked to the post or just add them to a post?

Inquiring minds want to know

Another factor to consider with WW1 lugers, is that many of them were rehabed after the war for Police use and the Police would add 4 digit (no suffix) mags of various types and die sizes and usually have a #1,2 or 3 above the serial to these guns at any time while in service. These mags are perferable to phony renumbered mags, but should not double the price of the pistol, like the correct FACTORY supplied ORIGINAL wood bottomed mags with the matching serial # and suffix letter.
