Appraiser???
I am brand new to this forum. In fact, this is my first post. I was recently given a 1915 Luger (P08 I think). My brother-in-law brought it back from WWII. It's in pretty good condition and all numbers match. Could anyone give me name(s) of someone in the middle Tennessee area (Nashville) who would be qualified to give an appraisal for insurance purposes? Thanks.....Marv

No, but we can give you a pretty good guess here if you provide information and pictures.
A "shooter" luger, one with mismatched parts, nickled/chromed is worth $400-$700 (all depending on how the condition looks). A 1915 DWM would be worth $900-$1400, I just sold a very nice one for $1000 here on the forum, I would guess last year it would have sold for $1300... Ed

Toolmanmarv,
I'm also located in the Nashville area, but I don't really know who would be qualified to give you an appraisal that would be acceptable to an insurance company for replacement cost You might want to contact John Allen at Game Fair Ltd. on Post Road. He deals in really high quality firearms and might be able to steer you towards someone who can provide you with an appraisal. Here's a link to their website: http://www.gamefairltd.com/ Good luck! Dave in TN. |

Appraiser?
Ed: Thanks for the info. This is a DWM Luger with a date of 1915 and serial number 1117. All numbers match this S/N except magazine which has the number "37" on the upper and lower left side. Mag also has "fxo" and P08 at the bottom. The grips appear to be wood and need cleaning and the finish seems to be in fairly good condition. I just got this gun about a month ago and I would be surprised if it had been cleaned in the last 50 years. I haven't removed the grips or stripped it down to clean it because I'm afraid I'll break something. I'll try to post some pictures I took, but I don't know how much you can tell from them. I don't know much about digital cameras either. Thanks again.....Marv

Appriaser?
Dave: I appreciate the info. I'll see if he can help. I'm really new here so I hope both you and Ed get the right reply. Apparently you have to be smarter than the equipment you're using, and I'm not. Thanks again.....Marv
