Default A hello and a few questions

Hi all, my name is Joe and I am a collector of all things military and German.

I have recently purchased a 1936 fully matching S/42 Mauser made Luger P08 for a ver reasonable price.

It has all the early W/A exeptance and proof marks, its when I opend it is when it got confusing for me!

Inside by the extractor notch part of the reciever (Just below the marking for the barrel to mach the reciever) this:

W
D M

Could you please tell me what this is?

There are a few other stampings I can' identify inside. There is r.r and R.R a cross like + and quite a few number 4 stampings. They are not on parts that would be serial stamped as all of these are accounted for and are marked 27.

A couple of places have a squiggle which resembles a cross between a snake and a U. One end being fatter than the other end of the "U".

I cannot currently take photograps as I have lent my camera to a friend who is on holiday with it.

Thanks for the help,

Joe

Joe, inside markings are almost universally "workers marks" and can not be attributed to any specific person.

Thanks for the reply,

Could the DWM relate to the maker DWM?

No, I highly doubt that, as the workers used letters and numbers and that would just be a coincidence.
