Re: 1941 holster

Re: 1941 holster
It is as fake as a 3 Dollar bill. Giveaway at first glance was stitching on buckle attaching strap; after that the general contour of the holster, tool pouch is dead wrong and texture of leather appears bad. The stamping on the back is decidedly bogus.
Take it back and demand your money. Sorry to bear bad news! Tom |

Re: PLEASE USE ENGLISH...
Verzeihung ahhm, Sorry...
In Germany you can buy these so-called "Repro-Holsters" officially for about 95 - 120 DM. So the price you payed is ok, but has the seller told you, that the holster is original or have you asked him about originality??? If not, you've got a problem, if yes and he told you, it is original, it is FRAUD!!! Best regards |

Re: 1941 holster
Dieter, Looks like a repro to me. The newness of the leather & stiching, the none traditional stamps on the back, the extra stitching on the closure strap and most WW1 era holsters will have the back piece covering the mag pouch. Tom h

Re: 1941 holster
Hi,
as I told. I have absolutely the same holster with the same markings, with the same WaA-number in the same size at the same place. I bought it as a repro for about $45 in Germany. Best regards JF PS: Did the original holster have the "P08" marking on the back? I think NO?!? |

Re: 1941 holster
thanks to all. i think i'll sale it thursday at the gunshow in dortmund. thought really, that it was original and so i did not ask too much and paid. i bought it in my vacation in vienna at a very small gunshop. he had nothing for lugers, only this holster lying on spareparts for k98k.
maybe it would be interesting to tell all, how to identify a fake. dieter |

Dieter, Identification of fake holsters would be a full length course
and would be a topic too long for a post here. There are books about the original historic holsters that you should find and make yourself thoroughly familiar with if you are going to collect them... You could call them the Bibles for Luger collecting.
Just like Faith in God, you should make yourself so familiar with the truth (the Bible), that if a counterfeit looms on the horizon, you will know it immediately... It is a knowledgen acquired over time and experience, not one that you can become an expert in over a weekend. -regards, John |

Re: 1941 holster/Dortmund
Dieter,
I'm going to Dortmund on Thursday too. Many originals out there, but when you look at the prices.... Mascow seem to have the largest offer, but I'm not going to pay him $ 200 + for a holster in poor condition. See you, Juergen |

Re: Fake Holsters
I bought my fake holster (advertised as such), with the same manufacturer's and waffenamt (sp?) marks as on your fake for $39.97 plus S&H on the web from CheaperthanDirt.com. (Also got a bunch of camping stuff for 11 YO grandson). Similar "replicas" are also available, inter alia, from I.M.A.Inc. and for $27.95 from Interordnance.com.
