Gary, I have dozens of photos of Germans with artillery Lugers but damn few of them with snail drums. Up until 1916/17 LP08's were issued almost exclusively to guys who were assigned to crew served weapons. Starting in 16/17 German combat strategies changed and LP08's were issued to infantry companies. These are the guys one sees with snail drums.
