Judging from the stock lug iron configuration I don't believe it's for a LP.08 Artillery. Have you tried fitting it to a P.08 stock lug ? The crude fit of the beat up iron to wood suggests a cobbled up commercial stock with irons meant for another military pistol. Not a C96. A Bergmann perhaps ? I'm out of my field here and defer to those specialists. Another source would be Anthony Vanderlinden's book on holsters & pistol stocks. It is indeed a strange animal ! Regards, Dick McE.

It is an artillery stock iron with a home made stock. They used to be somewhat common here in the States as many irons were floating around loose after the federal ban on "stocked pistols" years ago. The first stock I ever owned was one such. The best advice is to take the iron off and toss it in a box and wait for a stock without an iron. Here in the US I run across a couple of naked stocks every year.

RGMCE, thanks for your opinion. Do you know where I could buy the Vanderlinden's book please ?
This stock appeared, a few days ago, on a french militaria website for identification. The owner said that the iron fits perfectly the artillery Luger.
I answered exactly the advice of George: not an official, Army stock or commercial item; just an home made replacement stock. George confirms definitively ! Thank you very much George.

Anthony's book can be viewed and purchased from his Wet Dog Publications website : www. fn-browning.com I believe he's Belgian born and may speak French, so you may wish to call him direct. Good luck.Dick McEvoy
