Wood Bottom Magazine Identity

This magazine came with a luger I recently acquired and since my area of interest is Mauser lugers with aluminum bottom magazines I know nothing about the wood ones. Any way to tell the year and type of gun this was issued with? #7633 with no letter suffix and no markings on the body. How do these compare in value to aluminum bottom magazines?

Tom, In the condition shown, probably not worth more than $50. I currently have some listed in the For Sale section of this "quality" for $50. TH

I don't see any cracks and from your pictures, the pin doesn't appear to have been out. It's must likely a WWI DWM and I'll happily send you $50 for it.

I don't believe that those numbers were applied at the DWM factory. Not up to their quality of workmanship. No Imperial proof, so it is not from the Erfurt factory. May be a Weimar rework.

Whether or not the pin has been removed is decisive. Unless it's been sitting in a drawer, the thickness of the nickel plating is of early WWI or Weimar quality. Can think of a few examples where DWM didn't strictly adhere to the old addage of "Immer Schoen die Reihe nach." Still worth the $50 to me.

John, I can sell you another for that price + S&H. Wether the pin has been removed or not, the pittin on the tube, the chip & renumbering of the bottom, kills any collector value. Tom

The condition of the tube is this mag's best feature. Hard to tell if the contour of the bottom has lost much surface, dies appear to be different sizes from the photo. Should display well. Any wood bottom has dropped off the radar around here long ago. If you have one with a comparable tube and the pin hasn't been messed with, let me know and let's work a deal.

I really don't see much pitting in the body but it has what appears to be stain marks. The 76 is definitely stamped bigger than the 33. Could it be half restamped? Small ding in the wood on one side.
