Nice Holster

Came accross a nice Luger holster . Beautiful condition. It is textbook original. As fine an example as I have seen lately of a 1942.

Wow that is so new looking many would take it for a reproduction, including me - but this one has Jerry Burney's imprimatur...

It must have been captured at the factory and kept in a climate controlled area for the last 66 years!

Wish I could afford it.

John, I have had people tell me it looks like a reproduction but it is not. It is just a very nice surviving example of the quality the Germans were producing even mid war. There are certain componants and charecteristics found on originals that cannot be faked. This one is clear enough for newbies to study to tell the difference.

I agree...I like the holster a lot.

The only point I was unsure of is the fact that the underside of the closure flap is dyed black...???...

Cannot make out the WaA stamp...either 280 or 750...both correct for the "cww" which is Karl Weiss...according to Bender's small book on WWII hosters.

Pete, Yes..It has bee dyed. You can tell because the thread on the tool pouch is blackned. This was undoubtably done by a subsequent owner. Not by the Germans. Unfortunate but the excellent condition of the rest of it ....It does not become a deal killer for me.
By the way I am not selling this holster...It came to my attention and I thought it was worth looking at.

Looks like the tool pouch stud and buckle are phophated, arent buckles supposed to be black paint?

Maybe someone did not want to reflect moonlight when opening the holster flap during covert operations...???...

I was not thinking you were the seller...unless you have a country-place in VT State...

Hi My Leather hero, Pure facination. How can one dye a holster after the sewing, without dying the threads? Maybe a waxing??

Eric,

Jerry and I were taking about the fact that the INSIDE surface of the closure flap was dyed...after the fact.

Usually you see the inside surface of the closure flap a natural leather colour, even though the hoster may be factory-black in colour.
