The pistol definitely has been repaired with a byf toggle because the proofs are from the Weimar era (WW1). It was most likely made by DWM or Erfurt, not Mauser (byf) who wasn't in the Luger business back then. It has been re-blued because the takedown lever is blue and not strawed as would be the case on an untampered Luger of that era. The same would be true for the trigger, safety lever, and ejector... As a shooter it is worth at least a couple hundred more than you paid for it $400-500 perhaps even a little more since it is good mechanical condition. I don;t believe the grips are original equipment to this particular Luger, but that is just a hunch...
The shoulder stock appears to have been refinished (the finish is very smooth and clean for a piece of wood as old as that one is supposed to be, and the hole pattern for the screws seems to be in the condition it would be in if the stock had been sanded down) and while it is worth more than a reproduction, it has lost considerable value to collectors. I would guess somewhere between $200 to 350 dollars... perhaps someone else might also venture a guess now that you have posted photos... With all that said, it is STILL a LUGER, and there aren't may folks who have ever even touched a real shoulder stock! I consider you blessed... regards, John Sabato |
