Default Kriegsmarine holster

Monday morning blues.. or is it?
Last evening I won this holster on an internet auction. Digging twice as deep into the pockets as for a 'regular ww2 holster. Any thoughts about this one?

Looks like you acquired a very nice rare holster at an inexpensive price.

Steinar,

That is a nice Reichsmarine marked holster. That would cheer up my Monday morning tremendously. It's in beautiful condition.

Congratulations!

Ron

Geez.. thanks guys

I was unsure about the value of such a holster..

Found it just 10minutes before it ended, so I didn't have much time to check things out.
Thinking that the total german navy was not that big after the Versailestreaty, I bid more than I usually do on a holster.

Ron, found it at a norwegian auction site, www.qxl.no. Ending price was 1500nok (274USD)

Steinar..Wanting to learn about this, I ask a question...This must be a 1934 holster..Is there a readable date anywhere on it? With the Wa, it is of the Nazi era.
Would the M anchor be used on a Nazi accepted holster?
I like the markings...Jerry Burney

Jerry, in a way I'm like the sleeping guy in class about this one.. unable to answer any questions
I took it as a 'between war's' holster, but you are probably a right about beeing within the nazi area. I dont have the holster in my possession yet, will get back to you on regarding date.

Steinar and Jerry,

According to "Das Heereswaffenamt" WaA18 was assigned to holster maker G. Reinhardt in 1922 and was renewed in 1937.

M /Anchor was replaced by Eagle / M in 1933. This is a Reichswehr Reichsmarine holster.

I want it!

Ron is correct; it is a fine Reichsmarine holster. Almost a text book example.

I have been shown several WaA18 holsters, dated 1926, and they are attributed to Simson's; not that Simson made them, but that they were bought / issued with the gun, at least that is the conjecture (Jim Kemp and others)

Ed,

According to my references, it's very possible that they may have had a contract with Simpson. Or that their holsters were directed to the same units. Depending on the allocation process.

Judging from the number of reworked Imperial holsters. There were probably few makers that were producing new holsters early on in the 20's after the war.

Reichswehr Reichsmarine holster then.. not much 'blues' connected with that. Thanks
It's still in the mail, but will probably go for sale.. don't have the gun or funds to match it at the moment.

Ronny, I have never claimed to be anything but a student. When we stop learning from each other it would be bad for us all! I appreciate your help and research. I am busy pushing a needle and don't really have the time unfortunately. I stop in here a couple of times a day for my edification.
Thanks, Jerry
