Police Holster
I completed my 8 mile walk at the Tulsa Gun Show today. I would like to know how bad I was taken on a holster I bought.
The tag said WWI artillery holster converted to police. It is black and you can't tell it has been shortened. On the front, near magazine holder, from the top to the bottom appears a line of stitch holes. On the outside of the flap there is a very light impression of what looks like a shield with the #25 in the center. On the outside back between the belt loops is what looks like a crown and below that I. On the top back edge away from magazine holder is the number 3760 below that SM915 that has been Xed out. Below the Xed out numbers is a faint 687. I paid $100 how bad was I taken? Thanks Brushy SE Okla. |

Guy, Without a photo it's very hard to give an accurate analysis of how bad you were financially abused. It must have looked pretty good or you wouldn't have shelled out a hundred clams. Almost any Luger holster will bring that these days unless it's a total rag. From your description I'd say you did OK. Post a photo of it and I will tell you for sure...Jerry Burney

Guy, Looks like a legitimate piece of history. This is an Artillery holster converted for use by the 100,000 man Police force created after WW1 to control the returning German Veterans and Communists in post war Germany. This was a time of great unrest but as you may know the Germans did not lose the war militarily. No allied power came accross her borders. They signed an Armistice. Consequently the Police, set up by the Allied control commission, were given the responsibility to control the German population who were starving and in general at loose ends about how to start over.
This was the start of the Friekorps. Did you get taken? If this fits into your collecting interests I think you did alright. Jerry Burney Interesting era.

Guy, you may be interested to know that this holster is marked by the Schutzpolizei (large city police) of the administrative district of M¼nster, weapon number 915. The Luger it housed probably had the serial number 3760. Now, all you need to do is find this pistol and you will have a righteous rig!
P.S., I think you got a good deal on the holster.

I bought a shooting grade police luger 1918/1920 from Hugh and wanted a home for it to rest in. Will this holster work with this pistol? Thanks Brushy SE Okla.
