IMPERIAL NAVY C/Ms
IMPERIAL NAVY C/Ms
The following paragraph noting the observed differences in the Imperial Navy C/Ms is based on limited observations. Any corrections, criticism or additions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jan Based on the examination of Imperial Navy Lugers there are differences in the C/M inspection stamps. The 1904 and early 1906 Variations (up to between serial number 790a and 7909a) have what collectors have termed a â??three lobeâ? style stamp (three lobes in the crown). The later 1906 Variation, the 1908, 1914, 1908 Navy Commercial and P08 Variations have what collectors have termed the â??pentagonâ? style stamp (a pentagon shape with cross, in the crown). These two stamp styles may be mixed on the early1906 Variation, with three lobe and pentagon style inspection stamps being applied to the same Luger. The three lobe stamps have the crown slightly above the M on the 1904 and first1906 production. Later 1906 production has the three lobe stamp tighter to the M. Even later 1906 production has the pentagon style C/M with the crown closer to the M as does the 1908 Variation. Observed 1916 and 1917 dated, and 1908 Navy Commercial and P08 Variations have the Crown tight to the M. |
