De Vel Smith & Wesson
Just acccquired a S & W Model 59 by De Vel. I did not know what I was buying. I found a Model 39 by DeVel for sale for $3,995. I find it had to believe that the gun is worth that much. I got mine at an auction for the price of a normal Model 59. Does anyone know anything about Devel guns and what a fair value might be? O r where would I go to find out the value?

Thanks for the info. I am thinking of sending to Jim Supica of Old Town Station for his next auction in Oct. I know it is rare, but no idea of the value.

Asking prices are all over the place...
I've seen DeVels from $800 to the one you mentioned at GunsAmerica for $3995. An associate of mine picked up an ASP for $2200 last year; I've seen them advertised for as high as $5500 (Quest for Excellence Edition) You might also try: Jim Ronaghan in NY 516-921-7077 JT5249@aol.com

Does anyone know how to contact Wayne Novack? He makes the high grade sights many people put on 1911's. I understand he collects De Vels.

I spoke with Novak. He said someone is writing a book on DeVels.
