Default Magazine Test

Tested 7 magazines with the same Luger and 115gr Winchester FMJ with the following reults:

Original Luger fxo No malfunctions

Triple-K Stainless#1 No Malfunctions

Triple-K Stainless#2 No Malfunctions

MEC-GAR Blue (Older Unmarked) No Malfunctions

MEC-GAR Blue (New with trademark) No Malfunctions

MEC-GAR Nickel#1 No Malfunctions

MEC-GAR Nickel#2 *** Last cartridge did not feed, and the hold-open stopped the toggle in the UP position. Was out of ammunition at this point and did not have a chance to retest the MEC-GAR Nickel#2. Next time at the range I will re-test this MEC-GAR to determine if this was just a fluke or if there is a problem.

Default Re: Magazine Test

Luke, thanks for the report. Just curious, what kind of Luger did you use and how many rounds per mag?

Default More Information

Don,

The Luger was a 1937 S/42 Russian import with "matching" parts which I got from Ralph Shattuck as a "shooter." The action seems smooth, and the parts seem to fit well.

I placed the word, matching, in parenthesis, because I suspect that the Russians might have renumbered some of them.

On the first Triple-K mag I used 8 rounds. It was difficult to insert into the Luger with the toggle closed, so I used 7 rounds on the remainder of the tests. If that would make a difference, I will use 8 rounds next time, as I plan a more comprehensive test the next time I am at the range.

Default REMARKS/DISCLAIMER

Having been trained in science & engineering, I am well aware that such limited testing does not provide sufficient data to support broad conclusions. I only offered these PRELIMINARY results as data points FYI. To be continued.
