Default SMLE - where to find a good one ?

My wife has kindly offerred to buy me a 'gun' as a present. Given the budget allowed, I'm trying to find a nice Enfield SMLE #1 mk III. I'm looking for a matching non import marked pre 1917 example.

Does anyone know of any specialists in this area ?

Searching through the auction sites there are a wide variety on offer, but most seem to be a little below the condition I'd like to find, or very poorly photographed !

Thanks, Stu

Stu,
Brian and Tina Dick are Enfield experts and enjoy a great reputation:

I know Brian and his wife from gun shows and both have always been good folks to deal with. They have also been very honest with their descriptions. They may not be the cheapest, but you know what you will receive. I highly recommend them.

If anyone is interested, Brian has a Vickers machine gun with tripod, transit chest, MANY sparte parts, etc. for $19,000. He is a class 07 dealer

Stu,

I also agree with the aforementioned assesment of Brian and his wife.

Just saw them over at the Birmingham show......they are pricey but have good quality stuff and they are very knowledgeable in the British field....

i think i have a 1909 dated bayonet w/scabard for one of these. i thought it would be handy for deer gutting. i bagged 4 or 5 whitetail with one of these SMLE things. good stopping power!

Thanks all. I'm fired up to fine an original so I'll get on to Brian and Tina forthwith.
