1914 Commercial Navy
Howdy Gents,
I am looking for more printed information on the 1914 Commercial Navy. I have Jan Still's Imperial Lugers and was hoping there were other resourses with more information on this piece. Thank you. Joe |

There is a book, now out of print, The Navy Luger by Joachim Goertz... you might find it at gun shows or rare book stores... The last one I saw on Ebay went for about $125.00 or more...
I sold about half a dozen new copies that I had accumulated for $75.00 each I think it was early last year. The only copy I have left isn't for sale.

Leo LaValle had one FS at SOS; it was 100% right. I wish I had gotten to it before someone else bought it.

Joe,
If you have big jpeg files, you can send them to me and I can easily resize and post them up for you... pebbink@pacbell.net Here is a link to an excellent posting on Navy proofs on Jan Still's Gun Board : http://luger.gunboards.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=421 |

Tom A.,
Would one still expect a large toggle pin flange on this M1914 commerical...adapted for navy use ? Is the crown floating a bit above the M in the one photo Joe P. posted ? |

Pete, I bow to your statement ... I can't say for sure because I am separated from my library... but it is still a book I want to keep. If any of you find one, you better snatch it up.

Pete,
Standard toggle axel pin; it was a commercial pistol pulled off the line and procured by the Navy; in the US military we would refer to this as a "Limited procurement-commercial equivalent". The proof is correct. Tom A |
