Default Silver Engraved PPK

I am looking at a engraved silver PPK in a case. Made post war, I guess in the 1950's. It is 95% and has a 4mm conversion kit in the case. I think retail on the gun is between 1,200 to 1,400. How much would the 4mm kit be worth? And how much do you think the whole cased gun is worth?

The first question is of course is it factory walther engraving? (well actually Walther sent them out for engraving, but you get my point). If you have access to a copy of James Rankin's book "Walther pistols Vol III," he shows the various patterns. The other factor is caliber, .22 or .380 is more desirable than .32. Having said all that, if 99-100% they typically sell in the range of of $1500-2000, with original box, manual etc. The higher end price is with the blue leather presentation case, which often sells for $300+ on iys own. You indicted the one you are looking at is $95%, so 1200-1500 is about right

The post war 4mm conversion sets are quite common and don't sell for much more than $75.00 or so.

Hope that helps,

Vince

Thanks for your reply. I said 1950's, but now that I think about it, it was probably later. the case is off white with a red lining. I do think is is the "factory engraving". The grips are different than those in Rankin's book, they look like black checkered rubber with a metal insert toward the bottom of the grip with the word Walther. Thanks again.
