Strange mark on P08 1941
Elsewhere on this excellent page I have found this picture:
Can anyone tell me what this mark stands for? The pistol is a police model with Mauser banner. Original thread here: http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...threadid=13251 |

It is presumed to be a nazi eagle L police acceptance stamping.

No, there were also Eagle D and I think Eagle S, but it is not sure if they were individual stamps or for a city. If I remember right, someone thought it might stand for Liepzeg, but I can't remember.
Where in europe are you? Are you stationed or a european. You've had lots of questions, but no signature or name by your posts Ed

Ed, I've never seen an E/D police acceptance. Sunburst D,S,H,K etc. during the Weimar period. The only Nazi era poice acceptance markings that I'm framiliar with are E/F,L,C,B or K and believe that the letter indicated a particular inspector/office, similar to the number under a military WaA. TH

Tom, Imust have mixed up the sunburst and the Eagle's, could have sworn that eagle D's were uncommon... Thanks for the correction.
