Post Could it still be around?

OK folks, I just finished reading a book called "Panzer Aces" and in the chapter about Albert Ernst a serial number for a Luger was mentioned. Several times it was mentioned that he used his "zero-eight" when needed. At the end of the war he surrendered a town to a Col. from the U.S. and turned over his pistol to him. A letter was included in the story that the Col. wrote to Herr Ernst mentioning the pistol and included the serial number. The number was 5921 no letter mentioned. I was wondering if it is still possible for this pistol to be around. If so, could possibly one of the members of the forum have it. I know that this could well be just a story but thought you never know. What do you folks think? Could it be true and still around? Your thoughts please.
Thanks.

Sid.
