There are rarer variations, and I really love those Navies and Krieghoffs, Carbines, Early DWMS but I think my favorite SINGLE variation is the K Date Mauser. How about you?
"....now don't that make your Yaller boots Blue?????"

Russ, I am talking to a gentleman about restoring a 1902 Luger Carbine. I am pretty excited about it! I dont know too much yet, but we are in the initial stages of discussions. I am restoring a 1902 American Eagle for one of the forum regulars and I finished a 1900 Commercial for Hugh (along with a 1937 S/42) That Hugh has lots of my Lugers(but I have used lots of his grip work, I guess that is a pretty good arrangement......the man is a genius with Lugers)

Ted
I looked at a carbine a year ago that looked like it fell off of BillyBobs trackter and got ran over. I tride to buy it but the guy still wanted 7500.00 for it. it was a 1000.00 gun. But i did get a Simpson With a matching mag from him. If you get a chance to do this carbine we all want pics> Watch the front swivle!! Dont tighten it down to hard. You might crack the forarm. Russ

Hi,
The Model 1911 Dutch Luger, of course.... The KOL variety first, but the vickers comes second, closely followed by the 1911 - 1913 first series. Glad I have all versions in one gun Gerben |

For chamber markings, the Swiss and the Persians are cool. I started my collections with artilleries but then I picked up a navy and it was the end of the discussion. I like the navy model 1914 the best.

I was going to say Krieghoff, as I love this variation -- the look and quality. But no...
My favorite variation is the War-era Mauser of all flavors. The ones that the GI's brought home as souveigners after kicking some Nazi butt! They are the relics I cherish most because of their history. The plain-janes that the German soldiers humped through the mud and tundra and hedgerows in defense of their country. My favorite of all is the G-date Mauser. I don't know why? It just is! |

Jimbo, I've got one of those G-dates also. I got it from a GI (tanker), he captured a rural policeman. I have the Luger, holster, belt/buckle and police bayonet the German was wearing. Promised Ed Tinker to write him the full story for his pamplet. I too like those captured pieces, if they could only talk!

I guess I would have to say that my favorite is the '02 Fat Barrel with the '08 Commercial a close second. (Of course the carbine also has a lot of appeal, but now I am drifting over to Frank's choices - which if you think about it, is closer to the way most of us feel).

Hi Brandon,
My favorites to collect are indeed ERFURT ( also have a SIMSON that I do like a lot ). I love proofmarks...lots of'em... But I also have other LUGERS in different categories: Early Contract pistols, Commercials & III Reich... Difficult to resist temptation when I see a nice one or even a not so nice scarce variation...sounds familiar kidvett |
