Unhappy Help on ID!...

Hello,

I need some help on what seems to be a WEST GERMAN Rework?

1918 DWM m block military P-08 all matching. It sports the German Nitro proof used after 1952 on various parts ( barrel, frame, receiver, recoil lug, toggle, ...) and the COLOGNE Proof House stamp ( since 1968 ) on the recoil lug. Pistol has been reblued a dark blue-black & correct parts restrawed. It has 2 FXO mags numbered 1 & 2 Police style. Standard military walnut grips.

What is this pistol? West German Police Rework? I have seen EAST German Reworks ( like the VOPO ) but I never heard of WEST German Reworks

HELP would be greatly appreciated <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Thank you

kidvett

Note, I cant post PICS as my scanner is broken...will try to fix asap <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

I have a WaA E/77 Radom Vis35 which has been postwar reworked in West Germany. Like your Luger, it was reblued and has West German Nitro proofs but it's reproofing was done in Bavaria rather than Cologne. Apparently this was not uncommon if the owner of the pistol wished to shoot it and wanted to be sure that it was safe. Here's some photos:

Some of the large sporting goods houses like Waffen Franconia (sp?) have (or had when I visited Germany the last time around 1984) Lugers and other surplus weapons for sale that were West German proof tested and reblued.
