WW2 Family Photos

My grandfather was a high ranking officer in the German Army during the war. towards the end of the war he was captured and spent time in a POW camp in Marseilles. At the end of the war, he was tried and found innocent of any crimes and sent home to my mom and grandmother.

Fascinating photos, and thank you for sharing.
The sword is what we call the "lions head" design, obviously well engraved. Sorry that I can't tell you more.

I just assumed collectors of what is essentially German militaria
would be interested in the photos
I am not a Nazi and you cannot choose your grandparents.
I remember him as a kindly old man when I was young.

I have more photos and artifacts if folks are interested

I for one appreciate your sharing - one should never be afraid of the past, but should study it closely and learn from it. The WW II era has always fascinated me as my father was USN (Pacific Theatre) during the war, and I grew up with all the stories and history.
