I've had a few IC's in my lifetime but not as many as I have now. It started out as just a few additional period military tidbits to dress up a Luger display. I had stopped at eight, individual and on parade bars until this one came along. This one tells a story as some of my others do but not as this one does.
This one came cased, in pristine condition, never been worn or even taken out of the box. Inside was a newspaper clipping, neatly folded twice and place on top the ribbon and a perfect fit. The paper is worn, yellowed with time but I would like think it to be something a mother would have done to her son's Iron Cross. I shall get a small frame for it and display it along side the IC. The recipient was an Alfred Albert and he was with the Landwehr Inf Regt 32. This unit came out of Thüringen and became part of the old DDR after the WWII. Beautiful state and their Thüringen wurst is damn good!!!!!! Would love to know more about Alfred. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
