Few threads back people were saying they plink soda cans at 100 yards with ease.
Are these shots made from 'normal standing' shooting position, or using somekinda rest? I myself am just about able to score on a 6" dia steel plate at 50 yards - normal standing (not every single shot 'tho). Soda can at 100 yds seems a touch too challenging. Maybe I'll give it a try one of these days. - A |

I use a rest, an artillery model, and a shoulder stock!

I like to take most of my 100yd shots from the standing, no rest, with my 4 Luger. Of course I don't hit my target everytime, but darn close. Thats the fun of it.
Lots depends on your pistol shooting skills. 100yd pistol shooting takes a fair amount of discipline. I use to do a lot of handgun silhouette shooting out to 200 meters. Here we were using long barrel handguns, but the same principles apply. A good (proper) grip to the gun. Front sight is the most important thing to focus on. Even trigger pull straight back. Let your mind break the shot and follow through. If you help it, sure to be a miss. A good set of eyes and a no wind day helps. Best to shoot at something where you can see the impact. This way you can adjust your point of aim. A soda can on a dirt bank works best. Shooting paper at a 100yds can be depressing. Show all the bad shots you would like to forget about..... Bob |

I know where a decent looking DWM 1915(?) Artillery is. $1800 firm. Looks OK but I'm not an expert. AC 256-593-7270. Pawn shop in Alabama, Mr. Smith has it on consignment.

I forgot to mention about my shooter. It's with a 4 inch barrel (Finnish made, World War II era, never shot).
Just fire lapped it a week ago, not been to range since. Don't know how it'll perform. Didn't do lapping for accuracy, just to discourage jacket buildup. - A. |

Hi Artsi,
When shooting long range, I shoot pistol off-hand and kneeling. Best regards, Kyrie |

Artsi,
Must be how you shoot. I consistently hit the bulls eye from 5 feet? Really, I am like you, I hit the targt fine, but if you don't want to get shot, run a hundred meters from me! Ed |
