I just brought home 2 Lugers from my dad. I've been doing some research, and it seems as though you guys are the way to go. Please take a look and let me know as much as you can figure out from the pics. I believe they are shooters, but let me know if I have something more valuable than that. I will put the other one in another post. Let me know if you need more pics. Thanks!

Started life as a WW2 Mauser made (byf) luger; then eventually went into east german service, where it received some refurbishment and a east german magazine.

Amazing that you can tell all that just by looking at it. That's why I posted it up here.
Any idea on the value? I realize you can't be precise without looking at it in hand, but a ballpark? Thanks for the info! |

The DDR also installed the new C/N proofed barrel, which probably has an exc bore, inhancing it's value as a shooter in the $600 to $700 range. TH

I believe the X below the serial number and above the trigger guard means it was captured by the Russians and that's how it ended up with East Germans. I don't remember seeing an X like this before.

I have an RC Luger that has an X like that and the eagles peened out.
That should make a great shooter but that Russian dip really looks crappy! |
