Fake tools

This is great, now we have fake tools to worry about. This hobby is getting really risky for the person that doesn't have a fortune invested in books and learning.

I am no expert, but I use my library of Luger books to help me along. I know it has saved me on several occassions or made me feel better about a purchase.

You hear it a lot, but buy several books for every gun that you buy and buy several books before you bjuy your first luger...

Ed some people think you need to get a book on which books to buy nowadays. I hear too much that this author is wrong that one is wrong, buy my books they are the only ones that have the right info, it's getting bad.

Ive got several books but I am one of those people that cant retian info that Ive read so when Im out and run up on a deal I am at the mercey of my bad recall,I think my small brian is allready full of useless info and I dont know how to delete it.

Clint, don't worry about deleting it, when you get old it automatically goes away.

I have a couple of fake Luger tools. One of these even has fake byf markings. I also have a couple of holsters with artificial makers markings and dates on them. I bought them both brand new.

I suppose it may be possible to buy some new made holsters for $30 each, age them down to WWII used condition, and sell them on ebay for a tidy profit!

it is already being done and has been for several years. Usually it is fairly obvious, as they aren't collectors who are faking and then selling...

I bought a reproduction holster yesterday, with german markings on it.. The first thing I did was to write "reproduction" on the back. With my eyes, I might not see if it was genuin or not after a few years of hard use

Morgan, At the last NGD in Louisville I ran into a dealer from Finland selling repro mag loading tools and snail drum loaders. They were relatively crude and cheap, so most knowledgable collector would be fooled, but as noted above, there are also some good fakes that are hard to tell from originals, so the best bet is to know who you are doing business with and that he will refund, if you are unhappy for ANY reason.
