Default Re: Luger Logo/Proofs fill-in (white marks, straw)

Normally a white or gold lacquer stick is used to rub into the indentations of the logo and serial numbers. It is like a large crayon that you rub over the surface and then wipe off leaving the logo filled in. It is best used temporarily for display or photography. I have several pistols that have had the white lacquer applied 20+ years ago and it has aged to an antique white. There are white grease pencils that will give you the same effect and are more easily removed with mineral spirits. There are many opinions as to the good/bad aspects of doing this to your pistols. I am sure you will hear differing opinions. Ralph Shattuck, at http://www.worldoflugers.com sells the white lacquer sticks and I believe they are listed under accessories or misc.
