Thanks, guys...

I have tried to convince myself over the past day or so that this might be a rework...

But every surface I take a little "Flitz" to with a Q-tip reveals a good brown/rust color on the white tip. Especially some of the inside frame surfaces and the bottom of some of the diagonal grooves along the receiver sides.

http://www.flitz.com/

I even removed some old "whiting" from the serial numbers and found some old rust in there under the old whiting. And the witness mark on top of the receiver "flat" at the base of the rear sight is full of old rust and crud...

The straw color of the trigger even gives up a bit of rust/oxidation...when wiped down with a Q-tip. Looking that strong, I thought for sure it was recently restrawed...

The bore of this pistol is the most factory-new condition I have seen in a pistol in a long time. Cannot imagine more than a small box of ammo ever was fired through this piece.

The gun's high polish finish is very similar to the finish I have on an early Sauer 38H and a 1930's PP as well.

Does anyone have a book reference that might list the production run serial numbers and years ? I have looked in Still's Axis Pistols and some old Ian Hogg books, but not much production numbers are there...

From the use of the brown bakelite grips, I think this one cannot be any earlier than 1926, when the CZ factory was moved into new digs...and the switch from wooden grips was made.

Or is there a CZ collector around that tracks serials...?

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />
