Ron, not much help here but there was an Assault Battalion in 1919 named Henschkel. Post your question and photo here, you'll probably find out
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewfor...c086ea19016354 The badge is the badge for the German post-World War I Freikorps unit "Minenwerfer Abteilung Heuschkel." That's all the info I have.

Thanks Herb, I appreciate the info and the axis forum link. I'll give that a try. I had found out that there was an assault battalion by that name in 1919, but not much info on the battalion itself and/or who or what was "Henschkel" or "Heushkel" (which is correct, or are there two?). What I would like to know is who or what was Henschkel/Heuschkel and if this meinenwerfer unit had its origins in WWI and carried over into the Weimar era or if it was formed post-war.
