SIG SAUER P225

Which was/is the substitute standard for US personnel? The 225 or 229 single stack 9mm? It was/is issued for those with short fingers that found the 92 uncomfortable back in the mid 90's? In the Sig line I've only had 230, 232, 226, 220 and 210 and haven't paid that much attention to the others. I quit logging the rounds in my 226 after I reached 20,000. (I did sell my 220 after a few days at the range with an HK Tactical -- the ONLY plastic gun I own).

I suspect my 226 must be coming up on 30 now and I'm about to the point of wanting to replace the barrel (I can't decide if it's me or the gun getting bigger groups as I've been shooting them all poorly and not often enough lately).

For late 20th century combat side arms, an excellent argument can be made for the Sig as being the best of them all (I'd start by pointing out the SEALs broke their Glocks and Berettas with +p+ sten-gun ammo that the 226 ate without a problem).
