L.F.A. 255. 2.B. 28 most probably signifies: Landwehr Field Artillery
Regiment 255, 2 batterie, Waffe no. 28.

This field artillery unit fought as part of the 38 Landwehr Division on the
Western front during 1917-1918. This division was composed of mostly old
men (nearly 40 years of age) and was mostly used to hold quiet sectors.
During 1917 it held a quiet sector near Armemtieres. During 1918 this unit
battled in Flanders. The 38 Landwehr division had a divisional "Stosstrupp"
for the purpose of patroling. On Nov. 1, 1918 it distinguished itself in a
battle near the drainage canal.
