I don't want to classify them as 'rare' but neither are they common. A lot of Erfurts have them as well as others. The MG designation is fairly common among the unit marked ones as there were a lot of machinegunners at that time, and are usually found on the 1908 to 1914 unit marked Lugers. It has been estimated that about 15% of Lugers of that era were unit marked. Unit marked Lugers will command a higher price than one just like it that is unmarked. Following 1914 estimates are that only 1% of Lugers were unit marked thereby making yours more valuable than one of the previous years.
