Hi Ed,

Don't assume that pebble grained leather is pigskin. From my observations there was far more pebble grained cowhide used by the Germans than pebble grained pigskin. There was some discussion about this issue some time back. My guess is that the pouch is pebble grained cowhide. Looking at the unfinished side of the leather can usually give you the answer. Cowhide will be pretty consistent in texture while pigskin will have a pattern and, sometimes, bristle holes.
