Navy 1920 Re-work???

Ron, I've seen original Naval issue lugers reworked in many ways during the Weimar period. Perhaps the most common is to have the original barrel shortened to 4" or have a new PO8 barrel installed. Either of these may also entail the replacement of the orig adjustable rear sight with a standard PO8 fixed sight rear toggle link. Usually this was done without changing the original Naval proofing on the pistol. I've also observed some 1917 dated short frames or earlier long frames with stock lug (these may have been left over spare parts) built up with various length and caliber, usually 7.65mm, barrels which were then Crown/N proofed. Simson also rework some lugers for the Weimar/early Nazi Navy with an Eagle/0 proofing on the left receiver. So as you can see, the term Weimar Naval rework, is not very specific. TH
