It truly is what I have claimed, if there was ever any hanky panky with it, it was while the German navy still owned it in 1945. As my uncle claims (he's still alive) it appeared new, straight from the arms room on the vessel. He was with in the US army, but working with a British team that took the port. The Brits had first crack at plundering the ships, but were not allowed to take weapons, he and his buddies liberated a pile of Lugers. Sadly he does not remember the name of the vessel or what type/class it was. My next task is to talk my uncle out of his trapdoor Springfield which is supposed to be in excellent shape, I haven't seen it yet but am drooling already. Thanks for your help. Art
