I agree with Dan. All Lugers should be 6 inch barrels. Its a bit like Goldielocks and the three bears. The 4 inch is too short and the 8 inch is too long. But the 6 inch has just that right balance and feel. The sight has just the right adjustment. The only thing that makes it not perfect is that does not have the adjustible front sight.
As far as production numbers are concerned, I don't trust them anyway. Anybody who has seen John Sabato's picture of a large mound of WW1 pistols that were destined for the ovens after the war, has got to realize that production numbers don't matter much. You still have to hunt for what you want. Then there are the counterfeit Lugers...
