A quick look through some of my reference articles that arenâ??t in storage turns up the following additions:
The Latest Automatic Pistol, Literary Digest, 20 July 1901, page 75 The Unknown Story of the Borchardt-Luger, Modern Man, July 1954, page 35 Georg Luger and the $10,000 Carbine, Guns Magazine, March 1967, page 18 Rare Luger Cutaway, Guns Magazine, October 1968, page 25 The Magnificent Borchardt, Guns Magazine, May 1972, page 26 Lugers â?? A Collectorâ??s Guide to Values, Guns & Ammo, 1970 Annual, page 330 Lugers â?? A Collectorâ??s Guide to Values, Guns & Ammo, 1971 Annual, page 278 Mystique of the Luger, Guns & Ammo, 1972 Annual, page 218 A Dutch Luger Treat, American Rifleman, June 1972, page 20 Lugers That Were Never Made!, Arms Gazette, July 1974, page 12 Kriegsmarine, Pistols of the German Navy, Arms Gazette, February 1975, page 12 Imperial Military Lugers, Guns Magazine, May 1975, page 38 The Mauser Parabellum, The Shooters Bible, 1976 Annual, page 52 World of Lugers, Guns Magazine, Part 1, May 1982 Part 2, June 1982 Part 3, July 1982 Borchardt Variations, Guns Illustrated, 1983 Annual, page 78 Guide to 1984 Luger Prices, Guns & Ammo, July 1984, page 47 From Borchardt to Parabellum â?? An Anglo-Swiss Connection, The Journal of the Historical Breechloading Smallarms Association [British], Jun 1996, pages 31-52 I also have pages from a neat article â??The Fabulous Lugerâ? by Hans Tanner, page 163. Unfortunately, the name of the publication is not on the pages, but I think it is an annual from around 1977 by either Guns & Ammo or Gun World. Also there are the monthly articles by Charles Kenyon in â??The Gun Reportâ? that are excellent reference material, not to mention the bazillion articles in â??AUTOMAGâ?, the monthly journal of the National Automatic Pistol Collectors Association (NAPCA). For anyone who is interested, I have an extra copy (mint) of the British journal containing the â??From Borchardt to Parabellum â?? An Anglo-Swiss Connectionâ? article by Dr. G. Sturgess. It is an outstanding treatise on early Luger development and a fundamental reference. I had a heck of a time locating copies. It is available to anyone as nuts as I am about reference material for $100. That is what I paid for it about 6 years ago (I said I was nuts), so I am not making any money on the deal.
