I noted on the "www.clede.com/Articles/guns/sgn0800.htm", that there's a comment to the effect that the sear bar was originally held in place by the side plate and usually falls out during field stripping.

Is this how 'urban legends' start, or are my sears about to spontaneously detach

I've got to say that having looked at the other sites I believe this one deserves about 9 stars in comparison.
