Jim, I think the general consensus, among gun owners, is to relax the springs as much as possible, without disassembly. For your Luger, that means remove all the cartridges from the magazine and release the firing pin, using the â??toggle backâ? technique. MAKE SURE THERE IS NOT A ROUND IN THE CHAMBER!!! That should do it for the springs.
