RK,
I've been an occasional visitor to this forum for some time. I am frequently impressed when I read your posts, but this is possibly the most succinct and clearly elucidated description of the second amendment I've read. I checked the link, and am glad you chose to include it here. If I'm ever in Huntsville, I'd be happy to buy you a beer. In addition to all of the social and political reasons for owning firearms, I'd like to add that some (particularly Luger pistols) are marvels of engineering and craftsmanship. I like my lugers for the same reason I drive a 40 year old porsche, over engineered, beautiful (dare I say, sexy lines), reliable and functional. What more could one ask for?

The intent of the second amendment was not to allow the private ownership of firearms. If it had been it would have said something like "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"... |
