Hi Mike! There are a lot of mint byf 44's, and a lot of mint cyq's....most of them probably reside in collections, but there is no shortage of them, there are not a lot of mint ac 42's, there isn't even to many nice ones, although there are far less of any nice P.38's (high polish) that are earlier then 42....

ac 44's on the other hand, have never seemed as plentyful as the mauser byf 44's....German svw 45's are usually pretty nice, but they seem awful rare when compared to the rest...but as you mentioned, you have to see it first! And Mint is just what it says, mint, brand new! byf 43's & 44's are a great place to start with a P.38 collection as Mauser had pretty strong standards throught the war....till...later...G.T.
