I am having trouble finding locally Clenzoil, which appears, according to many on this board, to be the miracle preservative/lubricant of recorded history. Is there any national chain store which carries it?
Also, I saw advertised once in the Century catalog (but they are now long out of it and don't remember what it was) some product which you put in your gun safe and it continually leaches out am airborn preservative which coats any part of the gun exposed to air and prevents rust. This is supposedly a better option than dessicant packs, which may suck all of the moisture out of wooden grips and cause them to crack (another advantage to owning a Black Widow). Any ideas on where I can find either or both of these items? Thanks much. |

www.clenzoil.com will allow you to order some on line! About $10.95 for 8 ounces or you can call 1-800-OIL-IT-UP (1-800-645-4887) The Tedster

A Goldenrod works great in a gunsafe. It keeps the temperature of the interior of the safe slightly warmer than the room air and prevents condensation. Large temperature swings are the most damaging to stored firearms. If the firearms in the safe are allowed to cool down and then you have a warm humid day, the moisture will form on the cool metal of the firearms. A temperature difference of only two of three degrees warmer in the gunsafe will prevent this from happening.
I store my pistols in pistol storage boxes from Robert's Arms Specialties wrapped in VPI paper. Not only do the boxes stack neatly, but the boxes come with a pressure sensitive label and you can record all information on the end of the box. |
