Post My "Shooter"

Since I submitted my long-winded account some time back, of renewing my affair with my P.08 after over 50 years, I have invested in one of these new-fangled digital cameras, with the intention of showing off my "shooter." I still don't have all of the fine points of good picture taking down yet, especially proper lighting, but I'm doing better! I purchased the camera primarily to photograph book covers, etc. to illustrate eBay auction items, so the artistic quality leaves a lot to be desired. I am not able to upload photos in the desired manner, as I am using a WebTv apparatus, sometimes refered to as an IPAD (Internet Personal Access Device). It has no hard drive or memory to speak of; all of this residing in computers and servers somewhere in California. There are advantages: the system doesn't crash and I am virus-proof - all of this bad stuff is taken care of in California, where there is plenty of skilled help to deal with such calamities. I can and do upload to a hosting site and I invite your inspection of my pride and joy by accessing the address provided. My P.08 is a 1940 Mauser (code 42), serial 5a, with all matching parts. The new Nill grips look handsome and I am very pleased with them. They are made quite full though, and a small hand might find them a little much! I did a vile thing to the original grips, but I still have them and they can probably be refurbished. Member markw3's comments made elsewhere on the panel regarding his problem with "stovepiping" using Chinese ammo, reminds me of my similar experience the first time out with the pistol, using 124gr. Remington/UMC cartridges. I discovered these were 2 mm shorter overall than the usual 29.6 mm. Since then I have fired 124gr. Winchester Nato spec (pricey), 124gr. 50 year-old Peters ammo and 124gr. PMC brand (S. Korean mfg.); all without a single failure of any kind and all 29.6 mm overall! About 200 rounds total.
If I persevere, perhaps I can produce some better quality photos for a future submission. In the meantime, click on:
