Hi John! Glad you asked that! (seems like I'm glad alot lately!

) The best analogy I can use, is that working on Luger mags, is a lot like, " Cleaning a small live fish, on wet plastic, with the backside of a dull butter knife, while standing on a hillside, in a high wind!" It's practically impossible without the right tools, and holding fixtures! And, it's even hard with the right tools! The people who have purchased my tools, and have entered the twilight zone, learning curve, can vouch for this!
The fixture/benchplate tool does two important things, it allows you to work on the mag without clamping, (containment), and, it gives you a perfectly flat surface to work on! (accuracy)! I will have to receive some feedback from our members to realize if I was successful in my endeavor! Thanks for the pictures Hugh! BTW, John, to answer your question, you just put the mag. on there... and beat the H*?*! S#*^/ out of it!!!
