That case is a truly handsome, if somewhat dysfuntcional item.

But to get to the underlying question, "Are there any examples of original cases made of mahogany",

Like everything else in the wonderful world of toggle tops, you have to parse the question carefully. Its as bad as being Slick Willy's lawyer,"It depends on what you think the meaning of is is".

Strictly speaking, there are no "original" cases. The old-timey ones you see in the books were add-ons by the distributors and dealers. The only exceptions I know to this are those pistols that were produced with the specific intent of being presentation pieces, (Goering's K'hoff comes immediately to mind)and those which have been produced by Mauser in the 1970's as commeratives and presentation pieces are in mohagony if that was what was ordered.

CMR in England does a very nice job of recreating these and has repops of the distributor's labels also. 'Course they wouldn't fool anyone until artfully aged by Amerikanische Waffenfabrik, then hang on....
