Wes and Hugh,
what I have is a primary collection of Lugers that contains the best of what I have. But everyso often something comes up that is better than the one that I have and at a very good price. A good example is a 1915 artillery that I bought once when I was first starting. Nice gun but no matching mag. Somewhere along the way I found another 1915 that had a matching mag AND stock at what I considered a great price. Well, the first artillery now is my spare. Then there is the 1900 AE that I bought at one time. But an estate auction came up. Some old farmer died and he had a mint 1900 AE with Ideal stock. I suspect that he was the original owner. I got the set for only $1600. Well, the first 1900 now is my spare. These events just sort of happen.
As for my car, I found that my gun safe would not fit in a Mercedes or a Rolls unless I customized them and that would destroy their retail sales value so I thought that a Humvee and my gun safe would fit much better. But the gas milage is terrible. So I thought about buying the house next door and using it as a warehouse (the extra garage space could come in handy) but what would I do with two swimming pools? The other houses swimming pool isn't even a 50 meter pool and it only has one diving board. I can't get my lazy girlfriends to cut my lawn now. They are always complaining about using a push lawnmower. Gripe! Gripe! Can you imagine how hard it would be to get them to cut two lawns? I would have to get two more girlfriends and that would be time and cost prohibitive and I would have to reduce the rent that they pay. Ah, life can be so difficult at times. Sometimes it just does not pay to be a brilliant, handsome, modest guy with a great personality. Take my advise and don't try it.
