John, nice photos and a nice stock iron but I do not think it is of the 1914-1918 period. The serial numbers on every imperial stock iron I have seen and or own run across the top of the iron not along the axis. Mauser stocks of the Siamese variety that I have seen or own are numbered on the wood. I think that Persian stocks are also numbered in the wood in Farsi. I have also seen alot of stocks that came from Finland, those that I have encountered are not numbered at all.
